After five years with Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Donald R. Foust returned to YRC Worldwide as president of New Penn, the $4.9 billion trucking operator’s Northeastern subsidiary. Foust succeeds Steve Gast, long-time New Penn president, who left the Lebanon, Pennsylvania-based company to become president and COO of Wilson Trucking in Virginia.

Foust has a long career background in U.S. less-than-truckload transportation, starting as a part-time dockworker while in college and spending 20 years with regional LTL carrier Preston Trucking in Maryland. He later worked at Yellow Transportation before that long-haul LTL carrier’s merger with Roadway formed what is now YRC Freight. He joined Roadrunner in 2009.

Foust is one of several former Yellow and YRC Worldwide executives who have returned to the company since James Welch, former Yellow Transportation president, became CEO of the trucking holding company in 2011. Most recently, he was regional vice president for the eastern region of Roadrunner’s LTL operations. New Penn is part of YRC’s profitable regional group.
