LTL carriers Announce Rate Increases

June 29, 2012

Less-Than-Truckload Carriers Announce Rate Increases
YRC Freight has announced an average 6.9% rate increase, effective July 9, 2012, matching that of ABF, effective June 25, 2012, Con-way, and FedEx Freight, effective July 9, 2012.
The YRC Freight rate adjustments apply to minimum charges, LTL rates and accessorial charges. Domestic Canada rates remain unchanged at this time.
Trucking CEOs at the recent NASSTRAC 2012 Logistics Conference said higher operating costs, especially for labor and equipment, were making higher rates and cost-cutting necessary.
In the last month alone, YRC Freight has made numerous network enhancements to strengthen its ability to serve its customers.
·     Faster service into and out of every major U.S. city

·     Improved speed and reliability in more than 24,000 lanes

·     Less risk of freight damage: 700,000 fewer freight touches per year
