NBDA Dim Weight

FedEx and UPS now apply dimensional weight pricing to ALL ground packages not just those over 3 cubic feet. So what is dim weight? Simply put, shipping costs are based on the higher of two measurements: parcel weight or parcel size.

Domestic dimensional factor of 166
Actual weight is 20 lbs.

Domestic-Dim-Weight-166.gif
Find the dimensional weight by multiplying the length by width by height of the parcel in inches then dividing by 166.

Example:
20 x 16 x 14  =  4480  =  26.98
       166              166
Dimensional weight = 26.98 lbs (rounded up to 27 lbs)

If the dimensional weight (rounded up to the next pound) is greater than the actual weight of the parcel, use the dimensional weight to calculate the shipping price.

The actual weight is 20 lbs. but you pay at the dimensional weight of 27 lbs.

Remember, anything over 130 inches in Length + Girth (2 x Width + 2 x Height) is subject to an Oversize Charge of $57.50.

Domestic dimensional factor of 225
Actual weight is 20 lbs.
NBDA Shipping SOS dim 225.gif

Example:
20 x 16 x 14 = 4480 = 19.91
       225            225

Dimensional weight = 19.91 lbs (rounded up to 20 lbs)

In this case, the dimensional factor of 225 lowers the dimensional weight to the same as the actual weight - 20 lbs.

If the dimensional factor is 225 rather than 166, the dimensional weight will be 20 lbs. as opposed to 27 lbs.

Remember, anything over 130 inches in Length + Girth (2 x Width + 2 x Height) is subject to an Oversize Charge of $57.50.
